The Doña Ana Arts Council presents a musical fundraising event, Belle Nuit, to benefit the children’s summer program Opera Storytellers Camp. This musical event will take place on Saturday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the DAAC Arts and Cultural Center; tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
Bell Nuit will be directed by Christa Fredrickson who is the Opera Camp Director, Centennial High School Choir teacher and adjunct professor at the NMSU Theatre Department. Lela York will be on piano to accompany the beautiful voices of Ida Holguin, soprano, Cory Gasparich, tenor, and Christa Fredrickson, mezzo soprano.
The audience can expect to enjoy 90 minutes of arias and songs from The Marriage of Figaro, Carmen, Tales of Hoffman, Lakmé, Kiss Me Kate, My Fair Lady, The Music Man, and more. In addition, students from the 2018 Opera Storytellers program, Bryan Berard, Peyton Matthews and Morgyn Gallegos will share original music from their opera, “No Fly Zone”, that they wrote and performed last year with other Opera Storytellers students.
Proceeds from this benefit event will go toward scholarships for students to attend this year’s Opera Storytellers Camp that will take place June 3 – 14.
