In their new Arts & Culture Center in Mesilla, the Doña Ana Arts Council exhibits the work of an artist or group of artists each month. For February, during For the Love of Art Month, DAAC welcomes The Insighters, a group of artists who get together to discuss art and periodically show as a group. Their exhibit will open Friday, February 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. and light refreshments will be served.
The Insighters include Christina Campbell, C. C. Cunningham, Sherri Doil-Carter, Flo Dougherty, Linda Elkins, Tomi LaPierre, John Northcutt, and Roy van der Aa. These well-known local artists offer a diverse collection of art, which includes paintings, collage, prints, and sculpture.
The Insighters is an eclectic group of up to 25 southern New Mexico artists who use art to explore the conceptual, metaphysical, and multiple dimensions of the universe. The Insighters represents all forms of studio art, media, multi-media, and collage. The art ranges from realistic to abstract, and from traditional to non-traditional.
Their exhibit will open in conjunction with shows at the Rokoko Gallery and the Carolyn Bunch Studio, all part of the Art Mercado on Calle de Mercado and Avenida de Mercado, directly across from St. Clair Winery & Bistro. Make it a full evening by with visits to three galleries, then staying to enjoy dinner at one of the nearby restaurants.
The DAAC Arts & Culture Center is in the Bulletin Plaza at 1740 Avenida de Mercado, Suite D. For more information, go to www.daarts.org or call 575-523-6403.
