Thursday, June 27

Thursday’s live music includes folk guitar with Sage Gentle Wing at High Desert Brewing Co. (8 to 11 p.m.).

Friday, June 28

The Doña Ana Arts Council’s Promoting Art in the Mesilla Valley series, set for noon at the DAAC Arts & Cultural Center, 1740 Calle de Mercado, Mesilla, will feature Lorenzo Zepeda sharing his plan to start a  local, more visible public art program. Bring a lunch. Free. Visit daarts.org.

Friday’s live music schedule includes Damian Luna at Amaro Winery (7 p.m.); St. Range at The Game and Stepping Up at The Game II (7 to 11 p.m.); Nicole Osborn playing fun originals with pop, rock, jazz and blues flavor at Vintage Wines (8 to 10 p.m.); and Wildhorse at Pecan Grill & Brewery (8 p.m.). 

Saturday, June 29

The New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum will host a Felted Dryer Balls Workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. 

Wool dryer balls are easy to make and serve a very practical purpose — they help decrease drying time by separating clothes in the dryer to allow more air flow using less energy. Participants will make set of three felted dryer balls to take home. All materials will be provided. Cost is $10; space is limited. The Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso, el Centro Cultural Mexicano Paso del Norte, The University of Texas at El Paso and New Mexico State University will host a concert by Los Pachamama y Flor Amargo at 7 p.m. Saturday at Atkinson Recital Hall, 1075 N. Horseshoe Drive on the NMSU campus. 

With 30 years of artistic experience and cultural promotion, Los Pachamama has managed to materialize as one of the best stage expressions in Mexico, combining from popular Mexican music to the most representative Latin American music.

Mexican singer, pianist and multi-instrumentalist Emma Mayte Carballo Hernández, better known as Flor Amargo, was born in the state of Mexico. At age 6, she began studying piano thanks to her mother, but it is until she was 12 that she made her first song called “La Vida Loca.” She studied classical piano at the National Conservatory of Music and is a former participant of La Voz México, first season.

The Rio Grande Theatre will screen the 1941 noir film “The Maltese Falcon” at 8 p.m. Saturday as part of its ongoing Classic Film Series

The film stars Humphrey Bogart as private investigator Sam Spade and Mary Astor as his femme fatale client. Gladys George, Peter Lorre, and Sydney Greenstreet co-star, with Greenstreet appearing in his film debut. The story follows a San Francisco private detective and his dealings with three unscrupulous adventurers, all of whom are competing to obtain a jewel-encrusted falcon statuette.

Admission is $8; concessions including snacks, refreshments, beer, wine and spirits, are available. Visit riograndetheatre.org.

The City of Las Cruces’ Summer Movies in the Park series continues with a screening of “Ant-Man and The Wasp” at dusk — around 7:30 p.m. — Saturday at Young Park. As Scott Lang balances being both a superhero and a father, Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym present an urgent new mission that finds the Ant-Man fighting alongside The Wasp to uncover secrets from their past. The series continues with free, family-friendly movies each week; call 541-2550 for more. 

Saturday’s live music schedule includes Frontera Jazz at Sombra Antigua Winery (2:30 to 5 p.m.); The Cajon Brothers at The Game and Next 2 The Tracks at The Game II (7 to 11 p.m.); Alison Reynolds playing originals along with folk, pop and rock covers on cello and guitar at Vintage Wines (8 to 10 p.m.); and string jam band Dan Lambert & The Creatures of Habit at High Desert Brewing Co. (8 to 11 p.m.).

Sunday, June 30

The City of Las Cruces’ Music in the Park series will continue with performances by El Paso’s Borderless Brass Band and Las Cruces rockers Powerswitch beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday at Young Park. Free and family-friendly, Music in the Park continues on Sunday evenings all summer long — call 541-2550 for more. 

Sunday’s live music schedule includes The Two of Us at Sombra Antigua Winery (2:30 to 5:30 p.m.); and Tom Foster Morris at Vintage Wines (noon to 5 p.m.).
