Amazing Women of the West

One of the most dramatic eras of New Mexico’s rich history is the Territorial period when the United States raised the American flag on August, 18 1846 over the plaza Santa Fe for the first time.  VanAnna Moore, an accomplished actress, portrays three diverse women from that period. VanAnn Moore draws on this wealth of material to give us a informative and entertaining look at a woman’s life in territorial New Mexico.

Hotel Transylvania 2020 Children’s Matinee Series

 The film tells a story of Count Dracula, the owner of a hotel called Hotel Transylvania where the world’s monsters can take a rest from human civilization. Dracula invites some of the most famous monsters to celebrate the 118th birthday of his daughter Mavis (with an 18 year old aspect). When the “human-free hotel” is unexpectedly visited by an ordinary 21-year-old traveler named Jonathan, Drac must do everything in his power to prevent Mavis from falling in love with him before the hotel’s guests learn a human.

A Streetcar Named Desire –  2020 Classic Film Series 

A Streetcar Named Desire is a 1951 American drama film, adapted from Tennessee Williams’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 1947 play of the same name. It tells the story of a southern belle, Blanche DuBois, who, after encountering a series of personal losses, leaves her aristocratic background seeking refuge with her sister and brother-in-law in a dilapidated New Orleans apartment building. The Broadway production and cast was converted to film with several changes.

El Paso Opera – Bon Appetit!

El Paso Opera goes gourmet! Bon Appétit! promises to be a delicious and delectable evening of culinary comedy. El Paso Opera’s new Artistic Associate, mezzo-soprano Cherry Duke, transforms into beloved master chef Julia Child! As she demonstrates how to make a classic French chocolate cake adapted directly from the classic Julia Child television broadcast, there is flour flying and eggbeaters racing with a completed cake magically produced by the end of the show!

We Choose To Go To The Moon 

Las Cruces Space Festival Artists Tim Fitzpatrick and NMSU Graduate Jeff Erwin, created an art installation at Kilbourne Hole on the anniversary of NASA using the volcanic maar as a training ground for the Apollo missions. Captured by local production company NMCO media, and in coordination with Southwest Expeditions, this movie explores the “Hand Made Light” art installations from the 2019 Las Cruces Space Festival. The movie will be followed by a Q&A with Tim Fitzpatrick and Jeff Erwin.

Alex in Wonderland

2020 Obscure Film Series 

Alex in Wonderland is a 1970 American comedy-drama film starring Donald Sutherland and Ellen Burstyn. Sutherland plays Alex Morrison, a director agonizing over the choice of follow-up project after the success of his first feature film.
