Truckers Toy Drive

December 4, 2017 Julian Nunez

An event bringing together the local community through the trucking industry.
Las Cruces, NM, 11/24/17-Border International, a heavy duty and medium duty full service truck and trailer dealership with locations in Las Cruces, NM, El Paso and Laredo, TX, is pleased to announce in hosting their second annual Truckers Toy Drive, to be held Saturday, December 9th, 2017
According to the NCCP “15 million children in the United States-21% of all children- live in families with incomes below the federal poverty threshold.” Research shows that, on average, families need an income of about twice that level to cover basic expenses. Using this standard, 43% of children live in low-income families. That’s a lot of families and kids that will go without something during the year and especially during the holidays season.
Companies in the community have teamed up, like Garces & Son Trucking, Border International and Border Brew Coffee House to put on an event to help bring joy to lives of many children that may not otherwise receive toys during the holiday season. “The holiday season is a great time to reflect on our blessings but also seek out ways to make life better around us, so why not start right here in our community?” Ray Garces from Garces & Son Trucking states. Many people ignore the trucking industry, they just think they are big trucks that get in the way and take up the highways but society needs to be more aware that without the trucking industry society would be nothing. Think about it, if you are eating it, wearing it, or even sitting on it this very moment a trucker brought that to you in some way. This event is a great way to get the community more familiar with the transportation community as well as a chance for the trucker community to give back a little more to their home town this Christmas.
We invite our trucker community to join us for our 2nd Annual Trucker’s Toy Drive. Starting at NTS, in Vado, NM at 9am for our Truck Parade through Las Cruces ending at Border International. Where we invite the public from 11am-2pm with food, Santa pictures, door prizes, fun activities and more. Must bring new/unwrapped toy to participate in Truck Parade. Toy drop off will be at Border International where parade will end. Toy drop off at Border International is open to the public from now until December 9th. *Please only new and unwrapped toys brought to toy drop*
